On November 16, the International Day of Tolerance, take a moment to reflect on a time when you had a different viewpoint from someone of a different culture. How was space created for those diverse viewpoints in that interaction?
The UN General Assembly established the International Day of Tolerance in an effort to promote tolerance and bring attention to any intolerance that may still exist in the world. Although we should be tolerant on a daily basis, it is always helpful to have one occasion to remind us of the importance of tolerance.
To celebrate this day, start a conversation with someone who has a different point of view; be curious about their worldview and what informs that understanding. Either you’ll probably discover you have more in common than you thought or you would widen your understanding.
