love bombing

Love Bombing

This term refers to a pattern of behaviour seen usually in romantic relationships wherein a one partner drops “bombs” of love or displays extremely loving, or caring often idealised affectionate behaviours especially early on in the relationship. This could include compliments and romantic statements like “I’ve been waiting for you my whole life” inappropriately early on like on the first date, excessive attention, gifts or declarations of love, and active steps to check in, be together or increase the amount of time spent together.
This does sound like a dream, doesn’t it? However, while the behaviour reflects what we idealize as “love”, but there is no time taken for that kind of bond to develop, and in the case of Love bombing, the behaviour may not be sustained and can be used to manipulate or control the partner’s behaviour.
Remember, you deserve to be valued, and you deserved to be loved and respected.
