When we are ourselves experiencing challenges, it is better to look within

Sometimes, we tend to compare ourselves to the people around us especially when we are feeling low and it feels like everyone else is fine. We need to remember that everyone is on their own journey and we do not know the challenges that the others may be experiencing or when. We don’t all experience lows together. Moreover, each of us has a different personality, set of coping skills, support systems in place, access to resources and even perspectives of dealing with challenges. Some people may not be comfortable to show their vulnerability. This means that when we are ourselves experiencing challenges, it is better to look within. Ask yourself:

How am I feeling in this moment?

What skills of mine can support me in this moment?

What kind of support would help me get through this moment?

Can I support myself, by reaching out to family, friends or a mental health professional?
