“I recently began to maintain a journal specifically for noting two things each morning:
1. One thing I am grateful for
2. One affirmation for the day
I’ve maintained journals in the past, but never anything specific. It’s always been just feelings+events being noted, but this change has helped me incorporate a very helpful mantra into my life : taking it one day at a time.
I also used to suspect the ‘affirmation’ as something that white American women influencers (and “”wellness influencers””) on social media came up with. As in it felt very scam-y and superficial and fake to me.
But since I’ve started doing it, it’s helping a lot, so I’m also working on these kinds of past beliefs about affirmations as a mental health practice. “
