Anxiety is the mind and body’s natural reaction to stressful situations either occurring alone, together or over a period of time. It is a sensation of uneasiness, fear or dread about what is ahead, or what has passed. Sometimes even being in a situation that is similar to the original stressor or trauma, can induce anxiety.
Anxiety isn’t simply a collection of thoughts, but has the potential to impact your body and mental and emotional wellbeing as well.
A certain level of Anxiety helps us stay alert and aware, and get ready to respond to the situation at hand. However, if you feel like the anxiety you are experiencing is extreme, debilitating and disruptive of your relationships, routine and opportunity, you can reach out for professional support.
Remember, your feelings are valid. It is okay to feel what you are feeling. It is okay to seek support. You got this!
